John Kavanagh: “Conor McGregor Was Offered $5 Million To Fight Chinese Kickboxer”

Conor McGregor Head Coach John Kavanagh Reveals That The Irishman Received A $5 Million Offer To Fight Chinese Kickboxer

Conor McGregor is the richest fighter in the history of MMA. Dana White even said once that he had so much money he could be a UFC part owner as well.

But it looks like Floyd Mayweather Jr is not the only man who gets exhibition match proposals. John Kavanagh said Conor McGregor was offered $5 million for three rounds against Chinese kickboxer. (via BJPenn.com)

“I’ll give you a funny one,” McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh said during a recent appearance on The True Geordie Podcast (transcript via Express). “I had a guy message me just a few days ago – a Chinese kickboxer [who] wanted to do three rounds with Conor for $5 million.”

According to John Kavanagh, he gets tons of odd messages every day. First, of all, he thought it was a joke. But then a guy offered to put $5 million in escrow.

“He was going to put it in escrow. It wasn’t like he was just [joking]. Because again, I get a million messages like that a day, but you just don’t pay attention [to them]. But this guy was connected and it was a legitimate offer. But I know he wouldn’t [do it].”

“You get the odd funny message like that. And like I said, it was a genuine [offer]. I know the boxing promoter well and he’s very well known. So he wasn’t going to come with an offer that wasn’t legitimate.”

Conor McGregor (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) is the former UFC two-division champion. His last fight was at the main event of UFC 229 on October 6, 2018, where he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov via fourth-round submission. Currently “The Notorious” is under a temporary suspension by NSAC for his role in UFC 229 post-fight incident. His fate will be determined on December 10th, 2018, when NSAC disciplinary hearing will conduct.

Conor McGregor has a 0-1 score in boxing. He lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr on August 26, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada. As well as you know, Conor’s new UFC contract doesn’t include boxing rights. But Dana White loves “The Notorious” so much and changes stories all the time! Do you think Conor could take part in exhibition matches in the future?
