Joe Rogan wanted to talk with Kamala Harris on his show, but it didn’t happen because she didn’t want to chat about weed. Joe said his team talked a lot with her team to make it happen. Since Kamala was visiting Texas a bunch before Election Day, Joe even invited her to come by his Austin studio. But the talk just went up in smoke.
“You pick a time, I will be here,” Rogan said on Tuesday.
“It seems like — and these are all anecdotal reports, right? — but it seems like her campaign was kind of chaotic, like, no one could make a decision,” he said.
But Joe said the Harris team had too many rules about what he could and couldn’t ask her, so they couldn’t make the interview happen.
“They had requirements on things she didn’t want to talk about,” he said. “She didn’t want to talk about marijuana legalization — which I thought was hilarious.”
“Why?” asked Adrienne Iapalucci, the comedian who appeared on Joe Rogan’s Podcast.
“Because of her prosecuting record. She put a lot of people in jail for weed — 1,500 apparently, allegedly,” Rogan said.

When Kamala Harris was a district attorney in San Francisco from 2004 to 2011, she was in charge of over 1,900 cases about marijuana, according to The Mercury News. But most of those cases didn’t mean people went to jail.
People have been critical of her views on weed before. In 2019, at a debate, Tulsi Gabbard spoke out against Harris for having different opinions on the issue over time.
“I’m deeply concerned about this record,” Gabbard said. “She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations, then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana.”
Marijuana Moment asked the Harris team why she didn’t want to talk to Joe Rogan, but no one answered right away.
It’s a bit confusing because Joe Rogan said Kamala didn’t want to talk about marijuana legalization, but she actually spoke more about supporting it closer to the election. On the other hand, Trump did talk about supporting a Florida cannabis law, but he mostly focused on things like banking for the industry and changing marijuana’s classification.
Joe Rogan wanted to talk to both people running for president before the election. In late October, the Harris team said they’d let him interview her, but only if he traveled to her, and they would only talk for one hour. Joe’s podcasts are usually about three hours long, and he records them in his Austin, Texas studio. So, the interview never happened.
