Joe Rogan: “Tony Ferguson Is An Animal”

Joe Rogan is UFC’s well-known color commentator for over a decade and has called many fights. During that run, he has seen crazy fights, but one showdown that freak him out the most was Tony Ferguson vs. Donald Cerrone.

Rogan says Ferguson’s battering of ‘Cowboy’ at UFC 238 was out of the league that something he hasn’t seen before. Rogan was impressed by Ferguson’s unorthodox skill sets inside the Octagon. (h/t BJ Penn)

“Tony Ferguson’s an animal,” Rogan said on his official podcast. “He’s the scariest guy at 155 in my world cause he don’t get tired. That ‘Cowboy’ fight freaked me out. ‘Cowboy’ looked like Tony had bricks in his gloves. His face was all busted up, Tony didn’t look like he had a scratch on him and Tony wasn’t even tired. It’s crazy man, he has insane power. It’s a weird thing cause Tony does stuff to people and he doesn’t get tired.”

After a recent win ‘El Cucuy’ is now riding on 12 straight wins with a 15-1 record in the UFC. Ferguson’s last defeat came against Michael Johnson in 2012 since then he keeps shining.

“The thing is Tony’s pace is so disturbing,” Rogan said. “It’s so disturbing. Because I watch him fight guys and I’m like, ‘how do you keep up with that.’ Nobody keeps up with it. You gotta crack him. You gotta catch him. Anthony [Pettis] caught him, but he broke his hand. But Pettis had him hurt and Lando had him hurt. Lando Vannata cracked him and had him hurt. He knows how to survive though.”

There’s no guarantee that Ferguson will get a winner of Khabibs vs. Poirier. As promotion’s head Dana White is not committing anything at the moment considering UFC’s cash cow also wants a rematch with Khabib.

With such a strong resume no doubt ‘El Cucuy’ is the most deserving title contender in the lightweight division.
