Joe Rogan blames weight-cutting for Arman Tsarukyan’s last-minute withdrawal from his title fight with Islam Makhachev at UFC 311.

Joe’s theory on Arman’s injury ahead of UFC 311

Speaking on his JRE podcast, the UFC commentator mentioned Tsarukyan as one of the most agile and mobile fighters in the UFC. Rogan pointed out that “Ahalkalakets” has been doing a lot of mobility workouts but his back injury that saw him pulling out of UFC 311 was because of extreme and forced weight-cutting.

“There’s this guy, Arman Tsarukyan, who was supposed to be fighting Islam Makachev for the world lightweight UFC title but he hurt his back, literally like the day before the weigh-ins. It’s probably because of the severe weight cut. He cuts a lot of weight,” Rogan said.

“He’s very muscular but one of the things that this guy does that’s really extraordinary… he does these incredible mobility exercises like, he’s insanely flexible, he’s like jacked, like super muscular but like ridiculously mobile and pliable… he does all these crazy exercises where they’re like twisting them in weird positions and it’s very unusual for a guy that’s that strong to be that agile and mobile,” he added.

Joe wants the UFC to get rid of weight-cutting

Prior to his take on Tsarukyan, Rogan already shared his honest thoughts on the UFC’s weight-cutting policies and procedures. For the famous podcaster, the UFC should drop its weight-cutting system altogether and let the champions like Makhachev fight in his natural and comfortable weight.

As it stands, Tsarukyan knows he needs to secure a big and convincing win to earn a title shot once again. He was recently linked to a showdown with Charles Oliveira.
