Joe Rogan provided his opinion about the UFC’s new anti-doping system and Conor McGregor allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs.

Earlier this year, the UFC executives had a falling out with USADA, leading to the two parties ending their partnership starting in 2024. As a replacement, the UFC will work with Drug Free Sport International, a company contracted by the NBA, MLB, and NFL.

During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Derek from More Plates More Dates joined Joe Rogan to discuss various topics, including the UFC and performance-enhancing drugs.

Rogan had this to say about Drug Free Sport International potentially being more lenient than USADA:

“I would imagine it’s gonna be a little more lax, and I would support that. I certainly support guys taking things to recover from injuries like Conor [McGregor] did with his leg injury. 100%, no question about it. I’m 100% all in on that. That’s the only way. No one comes back from that. No over has ever come back from that catastrophic leg break.”

Joe Rogan also had this to say about his opinion on performance-enhancing drugs:

“I think in a perfect world, professional athletes would utilize everything possible to get the best possible performance. My only concern would be young people ruining their endocrine system. There’s real issues with overuse.”

Joe Rogan further voices approval for Conor McGregor’s alleged PED usage

Conor McGregor wasn’t able to make his highly-anticipated UFC return in 2023 because he didn’t rejoin the USADA testing pool in time. The situation was a significant factor in the UFC and USADA having a messy public dispute

There is a widespread belief that McGregor didn’t rejoin the USADA testing pool sooner because he would’ve tested positive for PEDs. ‘The Notorious’ allegedly used the substances to ensure he recovered from his gruesome leg injury suffered against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

During the previously mentioned podcast, Joe Rogan supported McGregor’s alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs:

“He was jaaaaaaaacked. And also, that’s when you should [use performance-enhancing drugs]. When you have something like a catastrophic leg injury. He’s got rods in his legs. He’s had multiple surgeries, it’s not just one. It doesn’t always heal right, and it breaks again.”

Conor McGregor is expected to fight again in the first half of 2024. The date and location have not been confirmed, but Dana White has continuously claimed McGregor will face Michael Chandler after they coached against each other on The Ultimate Fighter Season 31.
