UFC 309 lit up Madison Square Garden, but Jon Jones hinted the future of MMA could go beyond the limits of Earth.
Jones delivered an incredible spinning back kick to Stipe Miocic in round three, defending his heavyweight title in style. The night was full of action, with Charles Oliveira and unbeaten star Bo Nickal also earning big wins in front of an excited New York crowd.
After his victory, Jones was cheered on by Elon Musk and president-elect Donald Trump. He even dared Musk with an exciting challenge that might be too tempting to ignore.
“Jon Jones is talking to Elon about fighting on Mars!” said UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Some fans think it would be super fun if Elon Musk fought Jon Jones on Mars, but most likely, Jon will face another UFC fighter in this space fight.
At 37 years old, Jon Jones knocked out Stipe Miocic to keep his heavyweight title. His record is now 28 wins and just 1 loss. He first got the heavyweight title when he beat Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in March 2023. Jon has defended his titles more than anyone, holding the light heavyweight belt twice and keeping it for 11 fights.
Jon Jones gave his shiny championship belt to Trump, but his thoughts were on Elon Musk and a big adventure to Mars. Before he zooms off to space, Jon is thinking about fighting light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira instead of England’s Tom Aspinall, who is the interim heavyweight champion.
Miocic, who is 42 years old, decided to retire from fighting. He leaves the octagon with a record of 20 wins and 5 losses. Miocic was a two-time UFC heavyweight champion and won 15 fights by knockout. But he lost his title in his second-to-last fight against Francis Ngannou in 2021.
