Joe Rogan Previews UFC 241 Rematch Between Cormier and Miocic

UFC 241 is home to a rematch for the UFC’s Heavyweight title, between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. Ahead of that bout, UFC commentator Joe Rogan gives his thoughts on what could be different this time around.

The first time these two heavyweights met, Joe Rogan was sitting cage side. It was there, that he witnessed Daniel Cormier flatten Stipe Miocic with a right hand, in the first round. This outcome came as a shock to some, as Stipe was being regarded as the greatest heavyweight champ in UFC history.

Since that loss, Cormier went on to defend his belt against Derrick Lewis. He was also expected to face Brock Lesnar this summer. On the flip side, Miocic chose to sit out and wait for a rematch. Naturally, when the Lesnar bout fell through, Cormier was scheduled to rematch the Ohio native.

According to Rogan, sitting out may have been a good thing for the former champ. He spoke on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast to discuss the match up. (via BJPenn.com)

“DC connected with that beautiful punch in the clinch, but Stipe has had over a year to stew on that… I think [the time off is] a good thing for Stipe. Stipe’s an animal, I’m not worried about that. I think he’s going to be better. Stipe’s a real veteran. He’s a humble dude. He’s a hard ass, he’s not going to come in there with a lot of expectations on himself, he’s just going to do his best, I think.”

According to Joe Rogan, this rematch is something to look forward to. It will headline UFC 241, which takes place on August 17, in Anaheim California.
