Podcast host Joe Rogan hinted he might bring his popular show to Mar-a-Lago. Rogan shared the idea on Thursday while chatting with comedians Ari Shaffir, Mark Normand, and Shane Gillis. Interestingly, he turned down the chance to travel for an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris during her 2024 campaign.
“Yeah, we have to. We helped Trump get elected,” Rogan said when Shaffir suggested visiting Trump’s Florida estate. The group laughed as Shaffir mentioned recording an episode on January 14, the same day his Netflix special, America’s Sweetheart, premieres.
“Can we get together?” Shaffir asked. “Trump’s obviously going to walk on.”
“100%,” Rogan replied. “He’s gonna walk on if we do Mar-a-Lago.”
“If there’s a camera, then bro!” Gillis said eagerly.
When they gather in the studio, the “Protect Our Parks” members Joe Rogan, Ari Shaffir, Mark Normand, and Shane Gillis, always have a great time, often getting wild, which leads listeners to wonder how the soon-to-be 47th president, a lifelong non-drinker, would handle all the craziness.
Joe Rogan, who is 57 years old, shared that he already spoke with Donald Trump Jr. about recording a podcast with his father. Trump Jr. said he could “make that happen.”
Rogan, known for the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, had a long interview with former President Trump before the 2024 election. They discussed his policies, what he thought about his first term, what he hoped for in a second term, and even his personal life.
The episode became incredibly popular, racking up over 20 million views in the first 20 hours. Rogan publicly supported Trump just before the election and also praised Elon Musk for buying Twitter and turning it into X.
“If it wasn’t for him, we’d be f–ked,” Rogan said regarding Musk. “He makes what I think is the most compelling case for Trump you’ll hear, and I agree with him every step of the way.”
“For the record, yes, that’s an endorsement of Trump,” the comedian added
Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, traveled to Austin, Texas, to record podcasts with Joe Rogan during the final stretch of the 2024 race. However, Vice President Harris, who is 60, also wanted to appear on the show but declined to travel due to her busy schedule, despite being in Houston for a rally with Beyoncé in late October.
Opinions were split. Some supported Rogan for sticking to his usual podcast format and not adjusting for Harris, while others criticized him for not being willing to travel for a highly anticipated interview. Rogan was also frustrated because Harris only wanted to record for an hour, while his typical podcasts are much longer, like the one with comedians Shaffir, Normand, and Gillis, which lasted over four hours.
Stefanie Cutter, who works as a senior advisor for Harris’ campaign, shared on the “Pod Save America” podcast that the vice president was eager to sit down with Joe Rogan to speak to his huge audience.
But Harris’ team didn’t all agree, with some progressive staff members getting upset about the idea of her appearing on Rogan’s show, as reported by the Financial Times.
In 2022, Rogan came close to quitting his $200 million deal with Spotify after criticism arose for hosting far-right guests and sharing what some called “misinformation” about COVID-19 and vaccines.
