Joe Rogan Called By Brendan Schaub For UFC Commentary

Joe Rogan has a very long color commentary experience, and there is no doubt that he has an awesome knowledge of mixed martial arts and moves inside the octagon.

But at the same time, UFC hired him for that job, so you would expect him giving 110% of his possibilities every single time. Even during the match between CM Punk and Mike Jackson, it is expected from a man like Joe Rogan. At least he could troll them! Don’t forget Joe stated that CM Punk belongs to the amateur circuit. I mean, everybody was aware the fight was trash and something else was behind the fact that the two of them fought in a pay-per-view event. Joe was trying to find the positive side in Jackson’s striking, who has a kickboxing background. But what kind of kickboxer stops after a single strike and doesn’t know what a high kick is?

The former UFC Heavyweight Brendan Schaub was cringing during the UFC 225 event in Chicago. Here are his critical comments from “Below The Belt” Podcast:

“The commentators … Joe Rogan, one of my best friends, my brother, and even Jimmy Smith, those guys. When they would go, ‘Mike Jackson has high-level striking’ … I think we have to be very careful, very careful not to throw around the term ‘high-level striking’. Trust me, a high-level striker would have beat CM Punk in under 30 seconds. It would not have been a competitive fight if any one of those two had some sort of high-level striking. That was the only cringe-worthy night [sic], the only thing that made me go, ‘oh god!’ We got to be careful with that because if you’re a fan and you’re watching that and you go, ‘god, that’s high-level striking?’ No, it’s not.”

This fight definitively wasn’t “high-level striking”, it was a fight between two guys who don’t know to deliver a knockout blow. Joe Rogan is known for his legendary Podcast episodes and we hope he won’t retire soon but at least he could be a bit more realistic. You can’t call Mike Jackson a real striker!

Joe Rogan has a contract with the UFC which functions on a year-to-year basis. But if he ever gets tired of calling fights, he has many backup options in his life – 25 million dollars, Joe Rogan Experience… he was even a host to Fear Factor, maybe he can think something new! What do you think, is this a wake-up call for the psychedelic color commentator?
