The main event took place on Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington during UFC Seattle.

Israel Adesanya came into the fight looking to turn things around. The former two time middleweight champion had lost his last three bouts against Nassourdine Imavov, Dricus du Plessis, and Sean Strickland. At 36, this fight was important for him to prove he can still compete at the top level.

Meanwhile, Joe Pyfer entered with strong momentum. After earning his spot through Dana White’s Contender Series, he put together several wins in the UFC, with his only recent loss coming against Jack Hermansson. He then bounced back with three straight victories, including a submission win over Abus Magomedov, making this the biggest fight of his career so far.

So this was supposed to be a test.

A test for the young guy. A test for the unranked contender. A test to see if he belongs.

Instead, it turned into a very uncomfortable reminder that time does not care about legacy.

Israel Adesanya walked in as the experienced master, the former king, the guy with highlight reels longer than most fighters’ careers.

Joe Pyfer walked in like someone who didn’t read the script.

Round One Begins With Doubt and Booing

Referee Herb Dean gets things going and Pyfer immediately does something shocking.

He does not stand there and admire Adesanya.

He grabs him.

Body lock. Pressure. Straight to the fence. Crowd starts booing because apparently grappling still offends people in 2026.

Adesanya escapes clean, shows flashes of that old sharpness. A jab here. A slick lean back there. A high knee lands. You start thinking maybe the veteran still has it.

Then Pyfer just keeps coming.

No respect. No hesitation. Just forward motion like a problem that refuses to go away.

Adesanya lands clean shots, but Pyfer eats them like they are part of the job description. He even sneaks in a takedown late. Not huge damage, but enough to say, yeah, I can put you on your back too.

Round one ends and already something feels off.

Round Two Turns Into a Fight You Should Not Take Against Joe Pyfer

Adesanya starts round two sharper. Cleaner shots. Better distance. Leg kicks landing nicely. It almost looks like control.

Then things get messy.

Pyfer complains about an eye poke. Quick pause. Back to chaos.

Adesanya keeps tagging him, but here is the problem. Pyfer does not slow down.

He gets hit and decides that means it is his turn.

Big punches start flying. Adesanya is defending, moving, trying to stay composed. Pyfer is swinging like someone who does not believe in consequences.

Then comes the turning point.

Pyfer closes distance and drags Adesanya down. Not pretty. Not technical masterpiece. Just raw force.

And suddenly, the fight changes completely.

Ground Turns Into a Nightmare

Pyfer gets on top. Then to the back. Then mount.

Adesanya is defending, trying to survive, but this is not kickboxing anymore. This is damage.

Elbows start landing. Heavy ones. The kind that make referees nervous.

Adesanya turns. Pyfer follows.

More punches. More pressure. No space. No escape.

At this point, Herb Dean is watching closely, probably giving Adesanya every possible second out of respect for everything he has done in the sport.

But respect does not block punches.

Pyfer keeps unloading until the fight gets stopped.

And just like that, the unranked guy just ran through one of the most decorated middleweights ever.

Reality Check Arrives Without Warning

This was not a close fight.

This was not a debate.

This was a younger, stronger, hungrier fighter dragging a legend into a fight he could not win anymore.

Adesanya showed moments. Sharp counters. Good defense early. But moments do not win fights when someone is trying to physically remove you from the cage.

Pyfer did not care about rankings. He did not care about reputation. He cared about finishing the job.

And he did.

Official Result

Joe Pyfer defeats Israel Adesanya via TKO in round two at 4:18

Post Fight Emotions Hit Hard

After the chaos, Pyfer drops the intensity and shows a different side.

“I could see this moment happening. I almost took my own life a couple of weeks ago and I found God and I hate crying so I’m going to keep it together. God restored me, that’s the only reason I’m here. USA baby, let’s go!”

He then explains the plan like someone who knew exactly what he was doing even if it looked wild.

“We knew I had the bigger firepower, so we were just going to keep that pressure on him. I was super sloppy yet again, getting my leg beat up, but I just kind of have this mentality that I don’t care. I’m going to search and destroy and you better put me out because I’m not stopping.”

And then, oddly enough, respect. Real respect.

“Izzy is not the most powerful guy in the world, we know that. He’s one of the highest IQ champions of all time, two time champion, there’s nobody better than him in my book, he’s the greatest middleweight of all time. He’s so successful outside of the sport now. Whatever he does, I support him, I love you as a champion, I love you as a person, congratulations to Israel.”

Then back to confidence. Because of course.

“My man was No. 4, I’m in the top 5. As Izzy said, they need me. And I am here. I’m 16 3, I’m 29 years old, I’ve got the most beautiful woman waiting at home waiting for me to marry her, I love you. All glory to God for this victory or I’d be dead in a ditch somewhere. Let’s go! And that’s a bonus!”
