Joanna Jedrzejczyk Shares An Impressive Fight Week Weight Update Before UFC 223

Rose Namajunas handed Joanna Jedrzejczyk the first loss of her career at UFC 217 this past November to take the strawweight title in a big upset. And despite that loss, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is the betting favorite for her rematch with Rose Namajunas at UFC 223.

Following her loss to Rose Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk expressed her disappointment towards her nutrition team, Perfecting Athletes, who she felt had a big part to play in her defeat.

Ahead of her rematch with Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk makes sure she wouldn’t repeat the same mistake and focus on the nutrition side of her training and prove that her loss was just a fluke. (Quote Via MMAMania)

”In the last fight I didn’t show the best of myself and I did not want to delay anything,” she told Polish site Onet Sport. “I know what the problem was coming in to the November fight which affected the result. I want to correct this as soon as possible and win back the championship title.”

Moreover, Joanna shares an impressive weight measurement update ahead of UFC 223. Jedrzejczyk said this time she worked with a new dietitian and believe that it will prove fruitful.

”Now I weigh only a kilo more than during fight week,” she said. “I believe that there will be no problem with the weight cut preparation, and before the fight I will feel 100% ready both physically and psychologically.”

“We’ll see,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I can stay in the strawweight category, but on the other hand I am an ambitious athlete, and the flyweight belt is certainly within my reach. However, I am not going so far into the future before I fight Rose. I am going to regain the title that belonged to me for almost three years.”

The two ladies will tangle in the co-main event of the April 7th event that take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Do you think Joanna will steal the title from Rose Namajunas at UFC 223?
