Jamahal Hill returned to the Octagon at UFC 311 for the first time since his failed attempt to reclaim the light heavyweight title he was forced to vacate due to a ruptured Achilles more than a year ago.
‘Sweet Dream’ suffered a brutal first-round knockout against reigning 205-pound titleholder Alex Pereira in April, snapping a four-fight win streak and sending him back down the contender’s ladder. Now, Hill has an opportunity to get it all back but to do so, he’ll have to go through one of the UFC’s most destructive strikers, Jiri Prochazka. Like Hill, ‘BJP’ is seeking his own redemption after suffering a second career loss against ‘Poatan’ in June.
Round 1

Prochazka opens things up with a kick to the body followed by a combination punctuated by a big left hand that draws a smile from Hill. ‘Sweet Dreams’ attempts to answer, landing a right hand followed by a knee that misses the mark. Hill swings big with a right and hits nothing but air. Prochazka responds with a calf kick. The crowd is firmly behind Prochazka and ‘BJP’ catches Hill with a sneaky right hand that puts Hill on the mat. Hill scrambles back to his feet as Prochazka looks for the kill.
Prochazka locks in a Thai clinch and throws a couple of knees before getting back out of range. Hill closes the distance but eats another knee in close. Hill lands a nice right hand and Prochazka acknowledges it. Still, Prochazka is keeping his hands low, leaving Hill an opportunity to land. Prochazka throws a kick up the middle but eats another right from Hill. Prochazka ends the round landing a left that sends Hill back to his corner with a bloody nose and a swollen left eye.
Round 2
Hill fires a high kick to get the round started and Prochazka fires one right back. Prochazka goes back to the body with a couple of front kicks and Hill gives him one right back. Prochazka again goes for the high kick and Hill connects with a jab. Hill looks like he may have found his second wind, but his momentum gets halted due to an accidental eye poke at the 1:45 mark of the round.
After a few moments to recover, the fight restarts and Hill connects with a left hand over the top followed by a right. In close, Hill lands a stiff uppercut and Prochazka once again throws the head kick. During the exchange, Hill inadvertently pokes Prochazka in the eye which brings another halt in the action. After two minutes, Prochazka is good to go and the fight resumes. Prochazka throws a kick to the body, but Hill connects with a counter right. Hill lands a shot to the body but eats a right from Prochazka in return. Hill lands a back-to-back right hands and follows it up with a body shot that has Prochazka covering up until the end of the round.
Round 3
Hill goes right back to the body, landing a body shot followed by another, but Prochazka stings Hill with a right hand that has ‘Sweet Dreams’ retreating. Prochazka swarms in, but Hill survives the onslaught and backs Prochazka away with a combination. Prochazka with a high kick that’s blocked. Potentially down in the round, Hill starts swinging heavy, but Prochazka lands with a right to the body followed by a left up top.
Hill lands a big knee up the middle, but Prochazka fires back with a booming right hand that puts Hill on the canvas. Prochazka unleashes hell on the mat, but Hill fights his way up. Prochazka keeps the pressure coming and puts Hill on the mat once again. This time, Prochazka unloads everything he has left, forcing referee Mike Beltran to step in and call for the stoppage.
