After retiring from fighting for two years, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone shared his plans to return to the UFC, but only after the steroids leave his system. He has been very open about using performance-enhancing drugs during his time away.
This news hasn’t gone over well with some fans and fighters, who are not happy about his return after his candid admission of steroid use.
Jim Miller Shares Why He’s “Not a Big Fan” of Cerrone’s UFC Return
Donald Cerrone announced his retirement in July 2022 after a loss to Jim Miller. During his time away, Cowboy was very open about his use of PEDs.
In an interview with Damon Martin from MMA Fighting, Jim Miller explained that while he doesn’t like to tell others what to do, he doesn’t agree with Cerrone returning after being so upfront about using PEDs.
“The fact that he was very, very open with his use of performance enhancers and the way the majority of his last fights went… He got knocked out quite a few times and that’s not healing from going on a little [TRT] or whatever. I’m not super into it, to be 100 percent honest.
“It’s not my call, it’s up to him and his team and if they want him to get punched in the head again, do your thing. I’m not a very big fan of the whole steroid vacation thing. What are we doing? But he’s going to do what he wants to do.”
Even Dana White isn’t a fan of ‘Cowboy’ coming back to fight again. He told reporters in October, “I hate it, I hate it, love him, hate that.”
Jim Miller shared the same concerns as other fighters. Daniel Cormier, a two-time champion, questioned if it’s right for Cerrone to come back after being so open about using PEDs. Bellator champ Johnny Eblen also spoke out, saying steroids can cause long-lasting damage to the brain and that it doesn’t heal.
