Jim Miller added another ridiculous chapter to his UFC record book at UFC 328, tapping out Jared Gordon with a first-round guillotine choke in Newark.
Miller finished Gordon at 3:29 of Round 1, extending his all-time UFC wins record to 28 and pushing his UFC appearance record to 48 fights. The veteran lightweight did it in New Jersey, in front of his family, on a card where Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland both made championship weight for the main event.
The finish came after Gordon caught a kick and tried to turn it into a takedown. Miller immediately wrapped the neck, pulled guard, and squeezed until Gordon had no choice but to tap.

Miller Adds Another Record Win And Gets Emotional Afterward
Miller’s post-fight interview carried the real weight of the moment. After the win, he spoke about sharing the night with his family and revealed that his son recently battled cancer.
“I’m phenomenally happy. My family gets to be here tonight. To share this moment with them is amazing. My son went through some really difficult times in the last couple of months, he ended up kicking the shit out of cancer. He’s all good today. We are cancer free.”
Miller then explained what he told his son after the diagnosis.
“One of the things I told him when he was dealing with it, when he first got diagnosed is Millers have been called a lot of names over the years but fragile’s never been one of them. So he fought his way through it. Nothing I’ve ever done in here is as proud as he makes me and his siblings.”
The guillotine was not a scramble gift either. Miller said the finish came from years of repetition.
“I’ve drilled that over and over again so many times. I’ve drilled it thousands of times and it happens in my sleep. He’s a tough dude.”
Gordon entered as a durable lightweight who has been through plenty of hard rounds, including past UFC business around Bobby Green. This time, one mistake was enough. Once Miller got to the neck, Gordon fought the hands but could not clear the choke.
Miller is now 4-2 in his past six fights, and his push toward 50 UFC appearances is still alive. For a card already loaded with UFC 328 drama, Miller gave Newark a clean veteran moment with a fast finish, another record win, and his family in the building.
