Jessica Andrade Robbed At Gunpoint In Brazil

UFC Strawweight champion Jessica Andrade was part of an unfortunate situation in her home country of Brazil. It was reported on Thursday, that she was robbed at gunpoint.

Andrade ended up unharmed from the incident, although was shaken up. She was stopped in her vehicle, while driving with her wife, Fernanda Gomes. According a social media post from Gomes, the two were then threatened at gunpoint. They were forced to give their cell phones, before the perpetrator took their vehicle as well.

This story was confirmed by MMA Junkie, via Andrade’s manager, Tiago Okamura. He offered this statement:

“She’s OK. They took her documents, they took the car, they took phones, so we just spent the day doing paperwork and canceling credit cards. … She did a (police) report, and also people are looking for the car. But right now, we’re just glad that nothing bad happened. Nothing major that can’t be regained. Both her and her wife are safe, so that’s all that matters.

They were a bit shook, so I didn’t get into much detail. We just had to make sure the damage wasn’t bigger than it was, so that was the main work for the day. They are traveling to the U.S. in a couple of weeks (for a holiday), and Jessica had her passport on her, so we had to sort that out, too.”

Middle Easy is happy to hear that the new champ is safe. Especially after she gave us something fun to look at.

Jessica Andrade is fresh off her UFC 236 title victory over Rose Namajunas.
