Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell will meet again in a grappling match, but this time under different rules. The upcoming contest at Hype Brazil on March 11 in Rio de Janeiro will focus entirely on submissions. Strikes will not be allowed, creating a pure grappling showdown.
This rematch follows their first fight in UFC 314 in 2025, where Silva defeated Mitchell with a second-round ninja choke. That bout marked the start of a rivalry that has drawn attention both inside and outside the cage.
Heated Words Before Their First Fight
Before their UFC 314 clash, Mitchell made headlines with unusual claims. He suggested Silva had sent “legions of demons” to disrupt his sleep and affect his performance.
Silva replied on social media with a sharp response.
“Bryce, two things, these are not demons, it’s just you being afraid to face me and second about the beautiful women you have a hormone called testosterone and you probably have problems with it.”
Silva’s victory by submission confirmed his dominance in the first meeting, and the new match will give Mitchell a chance to respond in grappling only.
Both fighters have remained active since UFC 314. Silva has gone one-and-one in his two latest UFC bouts. He lost to Diego Lopes, then rebounded with a win over Arnold Allen, keeping him among top featherweight contenders.
Mitchell also returned to competition after the loss, defeating Said Nurmagomedov by decision in his next fight. The grappling match at Hype Brazil gives him another opportunity to show his skills against Silva.
Hype Brazil’s card in Rio de Janeiro features several notable fighters in addition to Silva and Mitchell. Former BMF champion Jorge Masvidal will compete in a submission-only match against UFC middleweight Shara Bullet.
Originally, Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas were scheduled to appear on the same card, but their bout was removed following recent incidents at a Real American Freestyle event.
This submission-only fight creates a different challenge for both Silva and Mitchell. Without strikes, the match will test their technical skills on the mat, endurance, and ability to control their opponent.
Fans will see a new side of the rivalry when the fighters compete on March 11 in Rio. The contest promises to continue the story between Silva and Mitchell and provide an intense display of grappling technique.
