Junior Dos Santos wrote a heartfelt message to his former foe, Cain Velasquez.
Many fighters have come to the defense of the former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez after being arrested and charged with attempted murder this week, and the messages keep coming.
From Rivals to Friends
On Thursday, one of Velasquez’s biggest rivals, JDS, took to his Twitter to write a message in four different tweets.
“As combat opponents we shared the dream of winning and becoming the number one,” Dos Santos wrote. “Today as parents, the victory we want to achieve is the well-being and security of our families.”
“There is still a lot to be revealed and investigated about this situation that Cain Velasquez is involved in. But until then I believe any honest parent would do the same if they were in his shoes.
“May justice be done and Cain can be where he belongs to be with his family as soon as possible. #freeCain #IstandwithCain.”

Dos Santos and Velasquez shared the octagon three times. Dos Santos handed Velasquez his first professional loss in 2011, on the very first UFC show on Fox when he knocked him out a minute.
The pair would rematch a year later at UFC 155, with Velasquez getting the better of the Brazilan in a five-round beat down, reclaiming his heavyweight championship. They would fight once more a year later, in October of 2016 at UFC 166, Velasquez would once again defeat Dos Santos, but this time he finished him via fifth-round TKO.
