A flyweight bout opened up the preliminary card, took place Friday night at UFC Fight Night 131 from Utica, New York, where a former two-division Titan FC champion Jose “Shorty” Torres made his Octagon debut on short notice. Early in the fight, Brooks seemed to take control of the bout, until one of his moves catastrophically backfired on him.
In the second frame, Brooks trying to go for body slam as he was confident and lifting Torres up upon landing he stuns himself. Torres immediately ground-and-pound Brooks to finish the contest at the 2:55.

With the win, Torres stretch his streak to 8-0 as a professional, while Brooks dropped to 13-2.
