Jan Blachowicz is none too pleased with Sean Strickland’s latest controversial post.

Currently, Ukraine is fighting to defend its territory in the midst of an invasion from Russia. Strickland recently took to his Twitter account to suggest that Ukraine should surrender to Russia.

“Ukraine should just bend the knee and become Russian… I understand it sucks and yes you could win….. but do you really want to be the new Afghanistan for the next 30 years??? Not saying it’s right but this hard pill to swallow will be better in the end.”

The comment left many in a foul mood including former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz.

Jan Blachowicz Scolds Sean Strickland

Jan Blachowicz returned fire and questioned Strickland’s stance.

“Would you? It is easy to give away someone else’s independence… The history of the Eastern European region is full of struggle and suffering. Ukraine – as a country and as a people – has endured much. Their resistance is understandable and admirable. Freedom!”

Strickland has been known to go off the rails with some of his comments. Some are questioning whether or not Strickland is putting on an act. Regardless, it’s obviously a remark that many didn’t take too kindly to.

Boxing heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and former multiple-division champion Vasiliy Lomachenko are on the battlefield defending Ukraine. They are joined by boxing legends Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko. Vitali is the mayor of Kyiv.

Blachowciz was initially scheduled to take on Aleksandar Rakic at UFC Columbus on March 26. That plan went awry when Blachowicz was forced to withdraw due to an injury. It’s been said that UFC officials plan on rescheduling the fight.
