UFC light heavyweight Jamahal Hill has expressed his desire to train with Jon Jones.

Hill is slated to compete against the veteran Thiago Santos this August 6 at UFC Apex. The pair will step across the cage from each other in the main event of the night.

Jamahal Hill wants to train with Jones

One of Hill’s friends and fellow fighter Khaos Williams recently went down to Albuquerque, New Mexico to train with Jon Jones, arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. Although ‘Khaos’ did not get the result he was hoping for in his last outing against Randy Brown, improvements in his game were evident throughout the fight.

In an interview with Middle Easy ahead of his headlining contest with Santos at UFC Fight Night, Jamahal Hill spoke about his wish to train with Jon Jones. When probed by the interviewer James Lynch about the idea, Hill stated how he would prefer the partnership to develop.

“Yeah, eventually. At some point, that’d be awesome. He’s one of the greatest of all time so it’d be nice to get some work done with him.

“But right now I look at him as like a potential opponent, a potential rival, like one of those fights for me at some point. So, not right now.”

Hill likes Jones vs. Miocic

During the same interview, Jamahal Hill also showed his support for the matchup of Jones against Stipe Miocic. It is a fight that has been long rumored to mark Jones’s debut at heavyweight against the greatest heavyweight in the history of the UFC.

While talks have been rife of the showdown being for the interim title, nothing has been officially confirmed yet. The two were expected to be on the main card for International Fight Week but it seems unlikely. In a message shared on his Twitter, Jones claimed that Miocic will not be ready till September.

It would be great to see Hill work on his MMA chops alongside Jones. If ‘Bones’ proceeds to move on from the light heavyweight division permanently, their team-up will be likely sooner than later.
