Jamahal Hill is open to fighting all challengers and that includes Jon Jones.
Hill: Jon Jones Is The Ultimate Test
The newly crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is keeping his options open after his title victory at UFC 283. While Hill has his sights on facing Jiri Prochazka next, he has welcomed fights with middleweight champ Alex Pereira as well as the longtime ruler of his division, Jon Jones.
‘Bones’ looks to break through in a weight class above, challenging for the heavyweight title at UFC 285 but that won’t stop ‘Sweet Dreams’ from dreaming about the potential fight.
“A thousand percent,” Hill said of his interest in fighting Jones (via BYM). “I want to eventually build to a fight against Jon. He’s the ultimate test. He was from the time that I came and decided, ‘alright I’m gonna make this run’.
On The Chase
Hill’s run would be nothing short of historic as he became the first ‘Contender Series’ alumni to realize a UFC championship. However, it wasn’t just Jones who got him into the sport. Anderson Silva was someone else Hill chased in his climb to the top, but that would change after ‘The Spider’ lost his title.
Hill has been chasing down Jones ever since.
“At first, when it first started, it was Anderson Silva. He was the man, you know, it was 2010 and things like that. But then after it, he had his injury and things like that. I kind of fell off from the sport. Like that’s why another reason I started working and things like that. I didn’t really see the money in it and all of that. Then Conor [McGregor] happened and then it’s like, alright.
“But Conor got that because he had Aldo who’s been undefeated for 10 years. He had somebody to chase. I needed somebody to chase. And this whole time I’ve been chasing Jon.”
Will Jamahal Hill ever catch up to Jon Jones? Or will ‘Bones’ retire before we ever see the old school vs. new school clash?
