- Jake Shields shared a promising news about Nick Diaz’s current status
- The former UFC fighter is convinced Diaz is now getting back up after struggling with personal issues
Jake Shields has provided a positive update on Nick Diaz’s welfare amid concerns about his mental condition.
Nick is good
Speaking on Overdogs podcast with Mike Perry, Shields, who has been a longtime friend of Diaz, shared what he knows about the UFC legend. According to Shields, Nick has gone through some personal issues but as it stands, he is “headed in the right direction.”
“He’s doing a lot better. I’m not going to get into anything personal with him, but he had some stuff that’s been going on for a little while. It’s finally heading in the right direction. So, I’m hopeful for Nick, because he’s you know, like, a brother to me, one of my best friends. But you know, life is tough sometimes. Ups and downs, things can happen,” Shields said of Diaz.
“Nick was dealing with something and I think it’s headed in the right direction. I haven’t felt that way in a long time, but I finally feel a lot better with that situation. But we’ll see, time will tell, because I’m so close to him, so it’s painful to watch someone struggling with some things. but I think he’s finally gonna be better,” he added.
Nick is rehabbing
Prior to Shields’ update, Diaz made headlines for all the wrong reasons. First, a clip of him shirtless on the street went viral and got fans alarmed about his current state. Later on, his fight with Vicente Luque got cancelled which added another layer of intrigue on his already concerning situation.

However, Diaz appears to be in good condition and environment in one of his posts. The former Strikeforce champion revealed that he is currently in Mexico at a place which appears to be a rehabilitation facility.
