Jacob Volkmann hands Antonio McKee his first loss in nearly eight years

For the first time in history, Christmas has arrived twice in just one week. Jacob ‘Christmas’ Volkmann has done what most people have deemed as scientifically impossible. Tonight at UFC 125, Volkmann grabbed a split-decision win over Antonio McKee to grant him his first loss in nearly eight years. Leave it to a guy that looks like Mr. Bean’s offspring to interrupt a fourteen-win streak. The fight was the first prelim to kick off UFC 125 and from the people who witnessed the bout, it seemed like a very close fight with some journalists even scoring it 29-28 Antonio McKee. Unfortunately for Antonio, one judge saw it the other way, leaving his record to a still remarkable 25-4-2.

Before the bout, it was rumored that Antonio McKee was on a one-and-done contract with the UFC, essentially meaning if he lost in his debut, he would be out of the organization. We’re not sure what’s going to happen after tonight, but it’s safe to say that if McKee feels the sharp edge of ZUFFA’s deadly flying guillotine, Mark Pavelich will welcome him with open arms. Props to Jacob Volkmann on a huge win and hopefully we can change his nickname from ‘Christmas’ to ‘Frate Trane Derailer’ (and yes, that’s spelled correctly).
