A grueling competition has been going on between MMA gyms across the US and most of us didn’t even know about it. Forget about all that work they are doing training some of our favorite fighters to do matrix style kicks off the octagon fence or preparing them for debut ufc fights or even fighting for the championship belt. The real accomplishment here is winning the number one spot in the hearts of all of the hardcore dedicated fans. Versus.com has been hosting a bracketed tournament of sorts over the last few weeks to determine the fan favorite MMA gym of 2011 and the results are now in.
Looks like the 414 has taken out the 209! Milwaukee’s Roufusport beat out Ceasar Gracie in the finals to take the title of Versus.com Gym of the Year. Blackhouse, American Kickboxing Academy and Nova Unaio, Extreme Couture, Tristar, Jackson’s MMA and Renzo Gracie Academy were all also in the running for the title. Roufusport has been on fire as of late with guys like Erik Koch, Matt Mitrione, Pat Barry and of course Anthony Pettis all doing big things in our happy little face smashing and blood choking world of MMA. Congrats to Duke Roufus and the boys for earning the title of Gym of the Year and big thanks for giving us some mindblowing cage walking kicks and one punch knockouts. We can’t wait to see what gravity defying techniques you have in store for us next.
