- Israel Adesanya was thrilled by how Belal Muhammad dethroned Leon Edwards at UFC 304
- Izzy was compelled by “Remember The Name’s” underdog story
Israel Adesanya has become an instant fan of Belal Muhammad after UFC 304.
Izzy will remember the name
As expected, “The Last Stylebender” tuned in on UFC 304 from his home. Adesanya was entertained by how “Rocky” and “Remember The Name” went toe-to-toe for five rounds. Before the fight ends, Izzy admitted that no matter what the decision is, he’s already a fan of Muhammad.
“Jesus Christ, Belal,” Adesanya said while watching the fight. “Even if he loses this fight, I’m a fan of him now. I knew his name, of course, but I’ll remember the name.”
A nice story
In his conclusion, Adesanya commended Muhammad for giving it all he got despite fighting in the opponent’s territory. For Izzy, “Remember The Name” and his rise was quite a story.
“What the f**k. Yo, Belal’s nice. What Michael (Bisping) just said: he’s fighting fearlessly,” Adesanya recapped. “He’s fighting in Leon’s home country, coming for his belt, and fighting like this… What a story though, Belal, to do that after coming back from the eye poke, now this in [Edwards’] backyard. Saying it the whole time, everybody doubting him, including me. Damn! Give it up to him, what a story.”
Indeed, Muhammad’s upset win over Edwards has become one of the most talked-about subjects of discussion in the MMA community. As it stands, the newly crowned welterweight champ doesn’t want to give Edwards a quick rematch. Instead, Muhammad insists that he will face only the most deserving contender there is.
