Israel Adesanya Willing To Put Money On Robert Whittaker Pulling Out Of Fight

Israel Adesanya is expected to face Robert Whittaker at UFC 243, in Melbourne. However, if you ask him, he isn’t so certain the fight will actually take place.

It has been quite the UFC run for Israel Adesanya. In just around 12 months, he went from signing with the UFC, to interim middleweight champ. Now, he faces his biggest test yet, in unifying the UFC’s 185lb title, in a giant 55,000 seat stadium.

In contrast, his opponent Robert Whittaker has had a tough time lately. Most recently, he was expected to face Kelvin Gastelum in his back yard of Australia. However, the day of the fight, he was forced to withdraw due to an emergency hernia surgery.

With that in mind, Adesanya is finding it hard to believe that the undisputed champ will make it to the cage on October 5th. He was on Submission Radio, where he said that there should actually be official odds on such a scenario.

“I’m going to put a wager out there and see if he makes it to the fight. ‘Cause for me, I’m keeping that same energy with the way I train. If he is… is he gonna make it to the fight? So, I’m prepared for him, but I don’t know if he’s gonna make it to the fight. That’s just history.

They should put a wager on ‘will Robert make it to this fight? Will he pull out of this fight?’ and put odds on that based on all his other fights. That should be a new wager that gets added to the odds.”

MiddleEasy is prepared to make a human sacrifice to the MMA gods, to see Israel Adesanya face Robert Whittaker. Consequently, we hope this bout comes to fruition.
