  • Renato Moicano still weighed heavier than Islam after gaining over 26 pounds

Islam piled up some pounds

In the data obtained by MMA journalist Aaron Bronsteter from The California State Athletic Commission, the official weight of some of the UFC 311 participants on fight night was listed down. One of the most notable weight-gain was Makhachev’s, which shows a 23.5-pound difference from his listed weight on the official weigh-ins.

Makhachev tipped the scale at 154.5 during weigh-ins and ballooned to 178 pounds on fight night. However, his opponent Renato Moicano, who stepped in to replace Arman Tsarukyan on 24 hours’ notice, piled a total of 26.8 pounds, weighing in at 155 to 181.8 pounds.

Fans say Islam was no weight bully

As expected, some online MMA fans voiced their thoughts on Makhachev’s weight. Most of them pointed out that contrary to what other lightweight contenders claim, the Dagestani champ is not a weight bully at all and the data could back it up.

Fans were stunned to realize that Renato Moicano weighed even heavier than Makhachev on fight night, which only proves that the reigning lightweight champion is a natural 155-pounder.

Here’s what some of them had to say:

“Moicano really weighed more than islam thats crazy”

“Dustin Poirier, Volk, and Moicano all weighing higher than Islam on fight night. ISLAM FC, STAND TF UP”

“And they call Islam a weight bully”

“The dagistani weight bully narative is just a myth”

“Narrative that Islam is weight bully is so wrong..He is literally normal LW”

Makhachev etched his name in UFC history when he submitted Moicano at UFC 311. The quick win saw defending his title for the fourth time, making him the all-time leader in most title defenses in the lightweight division.

As it stands, Makhachev eyes to fight for the welterweight title in his next bout, before aiming to be a multi-division champion by possibly moving up to middleweight.
