Every big UFC event brings rumors, and this time, people are worried about a staph infection.

Stipe Miocic, the former Heavyweight champion, is coming back after a long break since his knockout loss to Francis Ngannou in March 2021. His first fight back will be against Jon Jones, the current champion, and fans are really excited to see him return, despite all the talk surrounding Tom Aspinall.

However, when UFC released pre-fight photos of Stipe, fans noticed a strange red spot on his chest. Many quickly worried it could be a staph infection, raising concerns about his health before the big fight.

You can’t really tell if it’s a staph infection just by looking at the photo. It might just be a little scrape from the mats, a small cut from a friend’s nails, or even a tiny boo-boo from something else. The people who check the fighters usually don’t worry too much because other fighters have fought with little injuries before.

The good news is, a backup fighter is ready to step in if needed.

UFC is coming back to New York City on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024. The main header is between Jon Jones, the current champion, and Stipe Miocic, who used to be the champion. Jon Jones wants to be known as the best fighter ever, and Stipe will try to stop him.

In the co-main event, Charles Oliveira, who used to be the Lightweight champion, is going to fight Michael Chandler again. Michael has been waiting for a fight with Conor McGregor, but now he’s got to face Charles.

There will also be some exciting new fighters, like Mauricio Ruffy and Bo Nickal, ready to show off their skills. UFC 309 will start with the Preliminary card at 6 p.m. ET and the main fights at 10 p.m. ET.
