Ilima-Lei Macfarlane revealed Liz Carmouche was the first person she told about being unable to make weight for Bellator 300.
On Saturday, October 7, Bellator MMA will showcase sixteen fights inside the Pechanga Arena for Bellator 300. The historic night will feature three world title bouts, including former women’s flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane initially looking to regain her throne against Liz Carmouche.
Unfortunately, Macfarlane lost her opportunity to secure Bellator gold on Saturday night due to issues on the scale.
The 33-year-old Hawaii native first weighed in at 127.4, which exceeded the 125-pound limit. She returned for a second attempt, leading to 126.6 showing on the scale. Macfarlane received one more attempt and jumped up to 128.2.
Following her disappointing weight miss, Macfarlane released a statement on Instagram featuring a picture of her with Carmouche. The caption highlighted her close relationship with the women’s flyweight queen, who she will fight at Bellator 300:
“First person I told when I knew I was going to miss weight and what did she say? She said she loves me wants me to be healthy and asked if I wanted to use her sauna 😭.”
Macfarlane continued:
“Words can express how much this person means to me or what an absolute gangster she is for still taking this fight despite me f*cking it up. We’ve been through hell and back together and can say without a doubt she is my sister wife for life. #boop”

Who are the other title fights at Bellator 300?
The four fighters competing in the other two Bellator 300 title fights made weight, making everyone eligible to secure gold.
In the co-main event, Cris Cyborg returns to potentially extend her promotional record to 6-0. To do so, the women’s featherweight world champion must get through Cat Zingano. ‘Alpha’ is also undefeated under the Bellator banner, sporting a record of 4-0.
As for the Bellator 300 main event, Usman Nurmagomedov looks to further his argument for potentially being the best lightweight on the planet. The 155-pound king will take on Brent Primus, a former world champion with a dangerous grappling background.
Bellator 300 also features other intriguing matchups, including Leah McCourt vs. Sara McMann, Henry Corrales vs. Kai Kamaka III, and Davion Franklin vs. Slim Trabelsi.
