- Ilia Topuria hit out at Conor McGregor for challenging him on social media
- “Notorious” lost $500k after betting against “El Matador”
Ilia Topuria came up with a fiery response to Conor McGregor’s challenge following his UFC 308 victory.
Ilia wasn’t having it
In a series of posts on X, “Notorious” appeared to call Topuria out before reminding the reigning featherweight champion of how remarkable his run was at 145.
“Call me,” McGregor wrote in a now-deleted post.

“Cave his head in handy. Good little fighter, too small for anything substantial IMO,” McGregor continued. “He was getting chewed up there,” he added.
“Few fw’s now in the mix, and I beat every single one of them,” McGregor said. “I am that divisions menace. Point blank. Everyone on that list I hurt badly and finish. Not one of them lay a glove on King Mac,” he pointed out.
Unlike other UFC stars, “El Matador” was not thrilled by McGregor’s statements. In a post-fight interview backstage with ESPN, Topuria lashed out at “Notorious.”
“I don’t know what to say. F**k him, I’m telling you f**k him,” Topuria said of McGregor. “He fakes the comeback every time, he insults everyone in the UFC, he is like ‘I don’t care about anyone, ahh ahh ahh, I don’t respect anyone’.”
“Bro, you’re f**king sick, you have some problems to fix in your f**king mind. You need to take some classes on respect and how to treat people because you’re going to end up really really bad. When you follow these kinds of values in life you’re gonna end up really bad. So ask God not to cross paths with me, never ever, because I am going to f**k you up whenever I’m going to see you,” he continued.

Conor lost half a million again after betting against Topuria
Ahead of Topuria’s knockout win over Max Holloway at UFC 308, McGregor already let everybody know that he wasn’t in favor of the current featherweight champ. Few hours before the UFC 308 main event, “Notorious” boasted about betting $500k on Holloway and Robert Whittaker to win via knockouts.

Unfortunately for McGregor, he blew half a million in his parlay as Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev ended up finishing their opponents. Prior to this, “Notorious” also lost $500k after betting on Francis Ngannou’s opponent Renen Ferreita at PFL Super Fights.
Topuria’s win over Holloway saw him successfully defending his featherweight title for the first time. For “El Matador” he also became the BMF champion after knocking “Blessed” out but Holloway refused to acknowledged it, insisting that even UFC president Dana White doesn’t count it.
As for McGregor, the former UFC two-division champ previously hinted at a February 2025 return against Dan Hooker. However, nothing is official yet at this point.
