If you want to see Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin III, then it’s going down at UFC 148

The only thing that makes sense in the world post-Brian Rogers flying knee KO is to watch people being forced to give up a fight by way of being unconscious or submitting. Without either of these variables, I cannot cognitively function. I mean, the term ‘rubber match’ is something I’d have previously written without hesitation but now it makes no sense to me. What makes it rubber? After watching the video of the aforementioned reality defining flying knee, I followed the sage advice of Brian Rogers: Google it. This is what I found on Wikipedia:

“Unfortunately, no one knows where “rubber” in this sense came from.”

My own theory is that because each of the previous matches were split, this one could go either way and is unpredictable, just like when you bounce rubber. I know that’s a tenuous theory but in this instance, while I still believe in the power of ‘Google it,’ Google failed me. I may not be able to get to the bottom of this term, but that doesn’t stop me using it correctly when I say that MMAWeekly have reported that an already stacked UFC 148 will now feature the Tito Ortiz vs Forrest Griffin rubber match. It’s also been reported that this will be Tito’s final fight before retirement. You’ve never seen the first two fights between the two men? Google it
