Soul taking in MMA and other combat sports is no secret, but if you aren’t familiar, let me break it down for you. A fighters soul is taken on a spectacular knockout after which the KO’d fighter is never the same. Key examples include Arvloski’s mid air collision with Fedor’s fist at Affliction, Cro Cop getting head kicked by Gonzaga, and it’s been argued that Cro Cop took Wand’s soul at Pride Final Conflict Absolute. Or was that just the catalyst that led to Hendo taking Wand’s soul at Pride 33?
Rashad Evans hopped on Tapout Radio with the lovely Crooklyn to discuss what’s going on in the number one contender’s life. The subject of Shogun/Forrest 1 was brought up and Rashad had this to say:
“There’s something that happens in a fight sometimes, and the way Forrest beat him the first time, he took a piece of him with him. And when you take a piece of somebody with you…well, Shogun recognizes that. I think they might pick up right where they left off, because there’s no fear. That’s gone. You know, Forrest is going to go in there, and Forrest is going to push the pace. Let’s be honest here. Shogun does not have the best conditioning. I think that was a problem in their first fight, and I think it’s going to be a problem in this second fight.”
Just say it Rashad, you think Forrest took Shogun’s soul Shang Tsung style.
