Max Holloway still believes he has some catching up to do when it comes to legacy in the featherweight division.
The former UFC Featherweight Champion is regarded as one of the best to ever do it at 145. The same can be said for current king and Holloway’s next opponent, Alexander Volkanovski. Will the trilogy between Volkanovski and Holloway determine who the greatest featherweight of all time is? That’s the exact question Holloway would answer on Wednesday.
“Not at all,” Holloway told Middle Easy at UFC 276 media day. “A lot of fans, a lot of people are saying that but did we forget the man, Jose Aldo?
“The man got eight title fights, I got five title wins. Until somebody can beat his records as a champion, with eight title wins, then they can consider themselves the GOAT at featherweight. I’ve got five to beat here against Alex to get my sixth title win. This is the cherry on top. It’s going to be amazing.”
Max Holloway would leave his former foe another cherry on top.
“Jose Aldo is the best featherweight of all time.” Holloway later added.
