Miura lost the battle
Hiromitsu Miura’s family was deeply saddened by his untimely passing after his body finally succumbed acute leukemia. The former WEC title challenger has been battling with the disease for months but eventually passed away on Oct. 26.
Miura’s family announced the heartbreaking news on social media.
“Hiromitsu Miura passed away suddenly on October 26, 2024 at the age of 43 after fighting acute leukemia since mid-September. We should have informed you of his death earlier, but we sincerely apologize for the delay in notifying you.
The funeral was attended only by his immediate family. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness you extended to the deceased during his lifetime.

Miura’s combat sports career
Miura competed in various MMA promotions, including Pancrase and WEC. His most notable fight as a pro took place at WEC 35 when he took on UFC veteran Carlos Condit. Though Miura ended up getting TKO’d by Condit, their clash is considered as one of the greatest fights in WEC history.
The Japanese then switched to boxing in 2009 and logged an impressive record of 9-1. In 2015, Miura returned to MMA and joined Pancrase where he spent the last six fights of his career.
Miura held a pro MMA record of 13-8.
