The UFC’s prospect-picking reality show, The Ultimate Fighter, had been falling in popularity for the past couple of years. This season though, the series went through a complete revamp and made some decisions that set it apart from any other season ever. This is a best of the best, champions against champions edition and it, was, lit.
Dana White sat in a white silk chair, petting hairless cats and flew in warriors from all across the planet. He knew exactly how to make the show exciting again while finding some dude to fight the near-perfect Demetrious Johnson. Damn, White even thought he brought in Kazushi Sakuraba.
The fighter profiles were interesting and entertainment, but by far the highlight of the two-hour premiere (as it should be) were the awesome fights.

Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Moreno had an all-out war on the show. Pantoja ended up being a number one seed and was a favorite in the show. As RFA Flyweight champion, Pantoja actually beat Legacy FC champion Damacio Page (another fighter on the show) in a previous super fight so it’s no surprise. Pantoja proved too much for the WFF champ Moreno, and submitted him via choke in round 2.
The final fight on the show though, pitted BRFS champion Kai Kara-France against AFC champion Terrence Mitchell. France pushed Henry Cejudo’s team to two victories for the house already with a vicious knock out of Mitchell. The winner of this season fights for Johnson’s UFC title, but seeing how all of these regional champs stack up against each other is what makes this show a win.
Check out the highlights for that fight below and for real, check out the episode next week.
