When a natural disaster occurs far away from the comfort of our own homes most of us sit in front of our computers or TVs and watch in shock and amazement at the destruction and then just kind of go on with our lives because well-we have to keep living. Sometimes we donate money or sometimes some of us even feel compelled to lend physical hands to help out relief efforts after a tragic event. Still though, unless it has effected us directly we can never really know how much a natural disaster like a major flood, earthquake, tornado or hurricane can completely destroy the life or home a person has spent years building for themselves.
We can’t really empathize unless we’ve gone through it ourselves. We can sympathize though-and seeing a friend, family member, coworker or member of any community we are clsoe to go through it usually makes us sympathize even more with the situation because it brings it closer to home for us. Last week we all found out fighter and member of our MMA community-Chris Weidman’s home on Long Island was damaged severely by Hurricane Sandy. Today we can really see just how the storm has wrecked havock upon Weidman’s life and hsi entire neighborhood thanks to a video released by MMAfighting.com today. Ariel Helwani visited with Chris this past weekend to talk with him about the damage and give all of us and up close look at how much damage the storm caused in Weidman’s community. [Source]
