Here it is: Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman is going down July 6th at UFC 162

Chris Weidman has to be the only person in this universe that has been begging for a fight against Anderson Silva. When I wake up in the morning, I’m fairly certain an altercation with Anderson Silva is right on top of my list of ‘Really horrible and obviously dangerous ideas.’ Right underneath that entry is ‘Going to a Tea Party rally’ and ‘Telling geeks that the new Star Trek film looks horrible.’ ‘Getting hit with an overhand right from Fedor’ is also up there, along with ‘Eating Ikea almond cake.’

According to a report on MMAJunkie, a title bout between Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva has been set for July 4th weekend in Las Vegas at UFC 162. As always, the prelims will be distributed unevenly on FX and Facebook. There you have it, no Cung Le or catchweight bout with Jon Jones (or Georges St. Pierre). Anderson Silva will defend his belt against the number one contender — and hopefully most of you will stop complaining about Silva’s flawless UFC record.
