Henry Cejudo Making Case Why Johnson Don’t Deserve Rematch

Former U.S. Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo made history in the co-main of UFC 227 by ending to the historic six-year reign of Demetrious Johnson via narrowly edged split decision to claim the flyweight title. This showdown was a rematch to their first meeting at UFC 197, where ‘Mighty Mouse’ defeated “Messenger” via TKO two years ago.

After the win, Cejudo made his plea immediately to face the bantamweight champion, TJ Dillashaw and at UFC 227 post-fight press conference he revealed that his goal is to become a ‘triple champ.’

Many people believe that Johnson deserves a rematch due to his impressive resume as he already beat the Henry in their first encounter. However, Henry thinks he should fight a new challenger other than Johnson. (Via Bloodyelbow)

“I would agree when it comes to the statistics side of it,” Cejudo recently said on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show when discussing Johnson’s bid for a trilogy bout. “But at the same time, I know what the UFC’s trying to create, man. I had to wait two and a half years to face Demetrious Johnson.

“I had to wait, too. And it’s also good, too, for our weight class to start new storylines that have noting to do with Demetrious Johnson. We need new storylines in our weight class.”

‘Mighty Mouse’ who suffered his first loss in nearly seven years this past Saturday from staples center Los Angeles and he need some time to recover from injuries he receives during his fight against Henry. It’s unknown when Johnson will return to Octagon.

Meanwhile, Henry is ready to take a challenge other than Johnson for the sake of division.

“Think about it…let’s just say Demetrious Johnson beats me for the trilogy,” Cejudo said. “Again, that goes back to not building a storyline. I think Demetrious Johnson may agree with me. Just for the sake of our weight class, I think it would be good. I think it would be good to see somebody else, for now, except for Demetrious Johnson.”

Who do you think Henry should fight next for title defense?
