Henry Cejudo wants to give Jorge Masvidal some help.
Masvidal went one-on-one with Colby Covington in the main event of UFC 272. The welterweight grudge match was held inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Covington’s pressure and grappling were simply too much for Masvidal. Colby won the fight via unanimous decision.
Henry Cejudo Opens Door For Jorge Masvidal
Henry Cejudo spoke to The Schmo and detailed how he’d help Jorge Masvidal (h/t MMAJunkie.com).
“What I would do with ‘Gamebred’ is, you would want to make him more of a technical fighter. Sometimes he gets into these flurries. He’s too smart.”
Cejudo went on to say that he’s willing to help Masvidal find that balance of being technical while keeping his explosiveness.
“If I was to help him out it would be with his distance game. Keeping him at borders, like never allow anybody to get into the upper cutter-hook range and things of that nature, slipping through, going over the areas of concentration in wrestling, different little tricks because remember, I fought. Wrestling and MMA wrestling, it is different and people need to realize.
“There are things you can slip out of, and there’s things you really gotta defend, but you cannot get into these scramble positions like he did with Colby, which eventually exhausted him. I think I would help out ‘Gamebred’ a lot. I like ‘Gamebred’ even though we stopped talking due to our management firms with Ali (Abdelaziz) and Abraham (Kawa). I’ve always had so much love for that dude.”
Masvidal hasn’t won a fight since Nov. 2019 when he stopped Nate Diaz to become the one-time-only BMF Champion. Since that time, he’s lost to Kamaru Usman twice and now Covington. It’ll be interesting to see if “Gamebred” takes Cejudo up on his offer.
