GSP out of UFC 137, Nick Diaz vs. BJ Penn becomes the headliner, the universe just balanced itself

Let me tell you a story about a guy that was promised a headline slot at UFC 137, but missed a few public appearances and was punished by being relegated to the co-main event. Now that same guy has been re-bumped to the main event as a reward from the universe for apparently making this incoherent video.

Roughly three hours ago, GSP tweeted a pic of himself training in a ring with the words ‘Very focused right now’ attached. Now literally minutes ago, Dana White announced that Georges St. Pierre is out of UFC 137 with a knee injury and Nick Diaz vs. BJ Penn has been bumped up to headline the event, a fight that some already believed should be the headliner of the card.

Naturally, there’s a lot of drama surrounding the news and as it breaks, we’ll try to keep you updated. According to Sports Illustrated’s Josh Gross, Malki Kawa stated Carlos Condit will no longer fight at UFC 137 due to GSP dropping out. Now the argument is some people believe Malki is talking his fighter out of the event because it’s not a title shot and he doesn’t want to risk Condit losing to another opponent. Dana White has stated that he will most likely shelf Condit until GSP gets healthier, which should be around three months. The main event between BJ Penn and Nick Diaz will be a three-round bout.
