Ary Farias captured the Taura MMA interim bantamweight title last night by defeating Johnny Campbell. But Campbell’s injury is what’s going to make the headlines.

Last night, Ary Farias (10-2) and Johnny Campbell (20-13) faced off at Taura MMA 10 for the interim bantamweight title. Farias a 2 times Jiu-Jitsu world champion, did not have to use his best skills to win the fight. He rocked his opponent early, followed him to the ground, and starting unleashing some nasty ground and pound. Farias then landed a devastating elbow that nearly ripped off Campbell’s ear and force the referee to stop the fight.

Many fans were shocked by the brutality of the injury and likened it to Leslie Smith’s ear injury at UFC 180 back in 2015. Smith has since recovered from her injury and is still actively fighting. Johnny Campbell has yet to make a statement on the severity of his injury.
