Gina Carano says she weighed in at 141.4 pounds for her fight with Ronda Rousey at MVP MMA 1 after losing 100 pounds since September 2024.

Carano posted the update on X before her Netflix fight with Rousey. She described the cut as an 18-month health rebuild, not a normal fight-camp weight drop. By her numbers, losing 100 pounds to reach 141.4 means she started around 241.4 pounds.

“Ok. Vulnerable post but here we are.

I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs. Since Sept 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs. It hurts to say that and share but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half to shed this weight. It did not happen overnight.”

Carano Says Rousey Fight Gave Her The Target

Carano said the Rousey fight pushed her toward a goal she does not think she would have reached otherwise. She also said she was pre-diabetic and had trouble walking when the process began in September 2024.

“If it wasn’t for having this incredibly challenging goal in fighting @rondarousey I most definitely wouldn’t have reached this. I was pre-diabetic, had trouble simply walking in September 2024 and have been on the path to recovery to turn myself back into an athlete since then.”

Carano said the process included plateaus and mistakes before she reached fight week.

“It was hard, SO damn hard.. there was so much to learn, too much to unpack here, ups, downs, plateaus, things I learned late I wish I learned earlier, trial by error but I did it.”

She also thanked Rousey for waiting while she brought her weight down.

“Thank you to Ronda, who waited patiently while I lost this weight and giving me something to aim for.”

Carano has not competed in MMA since her 2009 Strikeforce loss to Cris Cyborg. She finished her original MMA run at 7-1 and became one of the sport’s early women’s stars before moving into acting. Rousey later became the first UFC women’s bantamweight champion and last fought in MMA in 2016 against Amanda Nunes.

The fight brings together two names from different stages of women’s MMA. Carano helped headline the pre-UFC era for women’s MMA. Rousey became the fighter who carried women’s MMA into the UFC title picture.

Carano closed her post by crediting her faith and family, then shifted back to the fight.

“There is still so much I need to learn and want to do in the health space and to continue transforming my body, but for today, I thank God, my husband and my family for sticking with and encouraging me the whole way.

I pray this encourages you wherever you are in your health journey.

Believe there is hope. Never give up.

Ok.. enough emo, I’ve got a fight tomorrow. We’ve worked so hard to get here. Tune in!!”

Carano now enters the Rousey fight after a 17-year MMA layoff and a weight-loss process she says began with a health scare. The same week also included Carano addressing her Disney settlement before the Rousey fight and Rousey trading public shots with Khamzat Chimaev.
