There is a new bundle of joy on the way for former UFC champ Germaine de Randamie.

Some fans have been wondering when they would hear from the first ever UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie. Although many might have been waiting for some fight news, she has released a different kind of announcement to her fans. De Randamie has announced that she is pregnant with her first child alongside her partner, Sam. The couple released a photo showing them together and announcing that the baby is due early next year.

“Woohoooo we can finally scream it from the top of our lungs “ WE ARE PREGNANT 😍😍” 🎉🥰🎉 we are blessed with our little miracle❤️🙏🏻 expected March 2023,” she wrote on Instagram.

The return of Germaine de Randamie to the UFC following the birth is unclear

Despite being the first ever female fighter to win the featherweight title back in 2017, she has not fought in the UFC for some time now. Her last outing was in October of 2020 when she defeated former champion, Julianna Peña, at UFC on ESPN 16 in Abu Dhabi. Following the win, Peña went on to win the bantamweight title and many thought de Randamie could be a logical choice for her defense since she recently beat the champ. Instead, the UFC went with a rematch with Amanda Nunes and de Randamie continued to be nowhere to be found.

In her absence, she was removed from the rankings for inactivity but is presumable still with the organization. Many fighters have given birth and made their returns to the cage, so that is not entirely out of the realm of possibilities. Five weeks ago she made a social media post with the caption that included, “it’s far from done.” Since joining the UFC, the only fighter that has handed the former champ a loss was the GOAT, Nunes.

Congratulations to Germaine de Randamie and her partner Sam.
