Frankie Edgar would fight Jose Aldo at 145lbs

He’s beat Jim Miller, Tyson Griffin and Sean Sherk; he beat BJ Penn to win the UFC lightweight belt and subsequently defended it against BJ four months later, not to mention his recent draw with Gray Maynard.  It seems like a cliché to call Frankie Edgar under-appreciated after all of this, but despite his 13-1-1 record, there are still people who say that he is too small to be a lightweight. To say that Edgar is too small to be a lightweight after beating the oft 170lb BJ Penn and a guy nicknamed “The Muscle Shark” is like discounting the sheer heat of a scotch bonnet pepper based on its size. Edgar spoke to MMA Fight Corner about being a smaller lightweight and the possibility of moving to 145lbs in the future:

“I wrestled 141 in college. I haven’t been down there in a while, but I can make it. It’s good to have that option, and the opportunity to possibly fight Jose Aldo in the future. I think I can compete with anybody, I know the fans want to see it. I know as a fight fan I’d want to see it. We’ll see what the future holds.”

My excitement about a potential Edgar vs Aldo match up somewhere down the line is only matched by the excitement I felt when I first watched this Mass Effect 3 trailer.
