Frankie Edgar, a UFC legend, isn’t letting critics get the best of him. After sharing an unusual encounter with drones, he found himself facing mockery on social media. Edgar recently appeared on the Champ and The Tramp podcast and shared a strange moment he had with his wife at a waterfront restaurant. Several drones were spotted in the sky, an experience he decided to discuss. However, his story was met with harsh responses, with some linking his sighting to brain damage from his time in the octagon.
Standing Strong Against Criticism
“I’m not arguing with dumb f*cking people,” Edgar firmly responded to the backlash. The retired bantamweight fighter was frustrated by the quick assumption that his experience was connected to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a condition often associated with head trauma in contact sports. Edgar explained that people mocked him, dismissing his story as something born out of mental health issues rather than a simple observation.
“I was out to dinner with my wife on Saturday, we went to oceans restaurant at the old Pisces right by the bridge. we park and Rene’s like oh my God there’s one [drone] and we’re sitting there she’s filming it and I’m like no no no then it gets over us. I’m like oh yeah that’s definitely a drone. If it has a green light on it it’s a drone it’s a drone. I know it has a red and a white light. Eight of them came in in less than an hour that we were sitting there eight of them. I’m on Twitter [X] you know people it’s all over this thing. I’m like bro what’s up with these with these drones man it’s getting out of hand.
“what the hell is this in Jersey. Yeah, okay bud, CTE, buddy, CTE!’ That’s what these f* people say. I wish I could [do something about it]… I just gave him the thumbs up. I’m not arguing with dumb f* people. You can’t argue with dumb people. Because they’re too dumb to realize.”
Drone Sightings on the Rise
While Edgar’s account may seem strange to some, it’s not entirely out of place. New Jersey, where the incident occurred, has experienced an uptick in drone sightings in recent years. This has raised alarms about security in the area, leading the Federal Aviation Administration to impose temporary bans on drone flights in certain regions.
This drone shit is getting out of hand here in NJ, WTF is going on???

Edgar’s Legacy in the Cage
Though his encounter with drones caused a stir, Edgar’s legacy as a fighter is secure. After a series of intense knockouts and a challenging run in the bantamweight division, he called it quits on his career at the end of 2022. Now, Edgar is standing up for his experiences, confronting those who want to discredit him by using CTE as an excuse
