Frank Mir still has love for the Reem and would hate to lose him as a competitor

I keep imagining Frank Mir rapping “I’ve got nuttin’ but love for you honey” to Reem in his best Heavy D impersonation voice after watching last night’s edition of UFC tonight on FUEL TV. Mir was asked if he thinks the Reem deserves a second chance after his recent elevated TE test results and his NSAC licensure hearing yesterday afternoon and he showed nothing but support for Overeem.

“I think this is the first time that he’s ever come up positive at tests, as far as I’m aware of. It seems like he had a viable explanation for what happened. Everybody makes mistakes. We all do things that we’re not proud of. We’ve all made mistakes professionally or in our personal life that are not our greatest moments in life. To sit there and ostracize somebody and never allow them to redeem themselves, I think would be very against humanity and our overall impression that I try to carry as a person. Everybody deserves opportunities. You know, he goes out there and he follows all the stringent testing the athletic commission is probably gonna put ahead of him and all the hoops he’s gonna have to jump through. As long as he does those things, then yeah, you know I’ll see him back in there. I think he’s a fierce competitor. We’ve seen what he did with Brock. I would hate to lose him and not have him as a piece in the Octagon or as a competitor in the heavyweight division, due to something outside the Octagon.”

Maybe when he sat next to the Reem at the UFC 146 press conference in March and felt Reem’s energy knock over those Xyience energy drink cans he too was touched by the Overeem Effect. I don’t know, but from the look on Frank Mir’s face in the banner pic and his support on UFC tonight,  he really does seem to respect dig the Reem’s operation. I just hope they become super best friends (like BJ and Matt) and enjoy a leisurely motorcycle ride together one day and post the pic on Instagram.
