Francis Ngannou has his eyes on a high-profile showdown with Jon Jones and sees the UFC White House card as the perfect platform for it. The former UFC heavyweight champion, who left the organization in January 2023 and later signed with PFL, confirmed that his contract will expire in time for the summer event, potentially opening the door for a reunion in the octagon.

Ngannou, who has fought once in MMA since joining PFL, defeating Renan Ferreira via first-round stoppage, addressed his availability in a recent interview.

“I’m getting very close on the PFL contract [ending],” Ngannou told The Ariel Helwani Show. “They have to give me a fight.”

He clarified that the timing of his contract aligns with the White House event, expected to take place in June. When asked about facing Jon Jones, Ngannou responded:

“Yes, if that could happen.”

“Confident, no, but there’s a chance,” he added about a potential fight at the White House. “Anything can happen.”

Challenges with UFC and Dana White

The path to a potential Ngannou vs. Jones bout is complicated by both fighters’ strained relationships with UFC president Dana White. Ngannou and White have exchanged public disagreements since contract talks failed in 2023, and Jones has also been criticized by White as unreliable for the White House card.

Since leaving the UFC, Ngannou has focused more on boxing. He debuted professionally against former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, losing via split decision in a close match. His second bout ended with Anthony Joshua knocking him out in two rounds. Despite his boxing ventures, Ngannou remains open to top MMA matchups.

With the PFL contract ending soon, Ngannou could be eligible for the UFC White House card, but everything depends on negotiations with Dana White and the UFC. Fans are left wondering if the long-discussed Ngannou vs. Jones fight might finally take place.
