Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez Training At WWE Performance Center

Two-time heavyweight champion and longtime pro wrestling fan Cain Velasquez has been training at WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, alongside NXT Superstars this week.

According to WWE, Velasquez entered the ring to learn the techniques under WWE PC coach Norman Smiley.

“My experience here has been amazing,” Velasquez told WWE.com while training at the pro wrestling performance center. “I’m just looking forward to being here and learning as much as I can. I’ve been a fan of the sport since I was a little kid, and now I get to participate in it.”

Velasquez was spotted ringside at NXT:

Velasquez with friend Daniel Cormier attended WWE Elimination Chamber when Ronda Rousey made her WWE signing official earlier this year.

Velasquez also shares his training picture from WWE facility on Instagram today:

I had a great time over the last couple days getting a few workouts in at the @wweperformctr and attending @wwenxt. Thanks to everyone at @wwe for the Invite and first-class treatment.

Many fans started speculating that Cain may be transitioning into the world of WWE, but it’s worth noting that Velasquez mentioned, he’s just “getting a few workouts in,” which doesn’t mean he’s changing his career.

It’s unlikely that Cain will move to WWE, but he wouldn’t be the first fighter in MMA to do so, there is a long list of fighters who moved to WWE, with the most recent example is former bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey.

Velasquez last competed at UFC 200 where he defeated Travis Browne with a barrage of strikes in the first round, to improve his professional record to 14-2. Before this fight, he lost to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 188.
