Former UFC fighter Casey Kenney has been handed a six-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to a reduced charge stemming from a domestic violence arrest in 2024.
Court documents confirm that the 34-year-old reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, resulting in a conviction for aggravated assault, a class six felony related to domestic violence. Originally, Kenney faced multiple serious accusations including kidnapping, assault, and disorderly conduct before the plea deal was finalized.
Under the terms of the judgment, Kenney began serving his sentence on October 30 and will remain incarcerated until May 1, 2026. After his release, he will be placed on three years of probation, attend domestic violence counseling, and complete a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He must also avoid any contact with the victim, pay fines, and comply with additional court-ordered restrictions.
Kenney also resolved a separate legal matter involving possession of drug paraphernalia. For that charge, he received two years of supervised probation and must complete 100 hours of community service along with the same substance abuse treatment program. Both cases were consolidated in court to ensure ongoing supervision after his release.

Details from Police Investigation
Kenney’s arrest took place in August 2024, following an investigation into a violent altercation involving his former girlfriend. A probable cause affidavit outlined the disturbing allegations that led to his detention:
“Between the dates of 7-21-2024 at approximately 11:00 p.m. and 7-22-24 at approximately 12:14 a.m. while at the single family residence located at [address redacted], [suspect] Casey Kenney committed kidnapping, aggravated assault by strangulation and assault against [victim] by repeatedly striking, slapping, biting, headbutting and choking [victim] for several hours resulting in abrasions to [victim’s] lip and discoloration to [victim’s] arms and petechiae to [victim’s] neck.”
The report continued, stating:
“Furthermore, during the 13 hours at Casey Kenney’s residence, [victim] was incapable of escaping the residence due to Casey routinely grabbing hold of [victim] and holding her in place during her attempts while threatening to cause more physical harm. Casey Kenney advised [victim] that if anyone shows up he will shoot them and if her mother shows up he will shoot her in the head. [Victim] stated she desires prosecution in this matter at this time.” h/t MMAFighting
Kenney competed in the UFC between 2019 and 2021, where he built a solid reputation as a bantamweight contender. His last appearance came at UFC 265, where he dropped a decision loss to Song Yadong. Shortly after that bout, Kenney was released from the UFC roster and has not competed professionally since.
Throughout his career, Kenney held a record of 16-4-1, with notable wins over fighters such as Nathaniel Wood and Louis Smolka.
