Some of you are amped for the upcoming Eddie Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler rematch this weekend at Bellator 106, but I’ve been claiming for weeks that Daniel Straus vs. Pat Curran will be the fight of the night. Styles make fights is perhaps the most cliched statement ever uttered in MMA history (right alongside ‘explosive’ and ‘he’s a warrior’), but Straus taking on Curran could be one of the most calculated fights in Bellator history that it just turns into an utter bore fest.
Up until this morning I had no idea that Pat Curran already fought Daniel Straus at XFO 29 back in 2009. Apparently the guys at Bellator had no idea either since this fight hasn’t been marketed as a rematch. Just a couple hours ago XFO released the entire fight on their official YouTube channel, and if the second fight is anything like the first, it should be a barn burner (again, another over-utilized MMA cliche). Also, why is barn burner used when things are exciting? A barn actually burning is horrendous — unless that barn is filled with clowns. Then it’s hilarious.
